Licorice is well used as a confectionery flavouring and can be more popularly known as “sweet root”. What are the benefits? Also known as ‘sweet root’ licorice is well used as a confectionery flavouring, but its value goes far beyond that, and the medicinal use of Licorice goes back several thousand years. Licorice root has been used by traditional herbalists as a general supplement, for respiratory support, and support of the liver and glandular system. Licorice is included in most Asian herbal combinations to balance the other herbs and to promote vitality. It has a reputation for bringing the entire body into balance and was used by Buddhist monks to clear the mind before meditation.
